Silk Prices

Cocoon and raw silk prices for all four silks, 2020-21 to 2025-26. These are market rates, not administered prices, and they do not move in a single direction — mulberry raw silk peaked in 2022-23 and has still not fully recovered.

  • Muga has appreciated fastest of the four silks. Warp yarn has risen from ₹ 19,800–26,000 per kg in 2020-21 to ₹ 32,000–45,000 in 2025-26, the upper bound growing by about 73 per cent in five years. Reeling cocoon has more than doubled at both ends of the range.
  • Eri prices have firmed steadily but modestly. Spun yarn has moved from ₹ 2,460–2,800 to ₹ 3,000–4,800 per kg, most of the gain in the upper bound as finer counts and blended products find markets.
  • Mulberry raw silk peaked in 2022-23 at ₹ 4,590 per kg, fell to ₹ 3,698 in 2024-25 and has recovered to ₹ 4,046 — these are market rates, not a monotonic trend.
  • Tasar reeled yarn is the most volatile line in the series, spiking to ₹ 7,208–8,208 per kg in 2024-25 before easing to ₹ 5,750–6,700.
